On Monday November 2, the final major initiative proposal to legalize recreational cannabis for adults in California was filed with the state attorney general’s office for title and summary. With just a few weeks to go before the first loose deadline there are more than a half dozen ballot initiatives on the table. The future of adult use cannabis in California—at least in the near term—is uncertain. It is well known that competing initiatives oftentimes end in failure.
On the afternoon of October 9, 2015 Governor Jerry Brown signed a package of bills that will—for the first time since 1996—regulate the medical cannabis industry in CA. The legislative package consisted of three bills: SB 643, AB 243, and AB 266.Read more
